The versatile and varied landscape offers great nature experiences and is easily accessible by a large number of paths and tracks. From one of Funen´s highest points, Trebjerg, one has breathtaking views across The Southfunen Archipelago, on clear days even as far as the South of Jutland.
Free information material about the paths and tracks of the area is available at the Tourist Office in Faaborg or the Tourist Information at “Midtfyns Fritidscenter” in Ringe.
At “Svanninge Bjerge” you can enjoy a nature experience out of the ordinary. Denmark´s biggest nature playground offers active playing for children as well as for adults. The nature playground is full of challenges that can be enjoyed free of charge every day, all year round. You can also enjoy a picnic at the benches and tables provided. From Faaborg please follow main road No 8 towards Nyborg approx. 2 km. Then turn left and take the road “Rallebæksgyden”.
Kiss the Froh
Go and explore nature. Kiss the Frog is a family activity that offers fun and exciting experiences in nature. Visit the mill “Trente Mølle” and borrow the equipment necessary to explore ponds, ditches and forests. Please get more information at

Midtfyn and Tarup-Davinde
A whole variety of experiences await you in the middle of Funen. You can visit the old village Brobyværk and see “Sdr. Broby Watermill” and the Manor House “Brobygaard” in the west, the merchants and industrial town Ringe in the east and the wonderful natural resort of “
Tarup-Davinde” in the north-eastern part of the municipal.
The smithy museum “
Hudevad Smedjemuseum” has been renovated in 2009. In the museum, containing workshops where you may try out the hammer and forge the glowing iron, the story about the “Hudevad Radiator Factory”, the village of Hudevad and the smithy itself are displayed.
Countless numbers of lakes have emerged after many years of extracting gravel and have turned the area of Tarup-Davinde into today’s recreational area. Here, one can bathe, fish, take a trip with a canoe, walk, find fossils, camp in shelters, make bonfires to mention a few things. You can also visit the camp at the nature school “
Naturskolen Åløkkestedet” and learn about the geology, history and the outdoor life of the area. A pamphlet about the area Tarup-Davinde is available at the Tourist Office in Faaborg and Tourist Information at “Midtfyns Fritidscenter” in Ringe.
Egeskov Castle
The old renaissance castle that dates back to 1554 is one of Denmark’s five-star attractions and certainly a world-class experience. The whole family can enjoy extraordinary experiences within the 10 different museums – here is something to suit everybody’s tastes and desires!
Apart from the countless vintage cars and motorcycles that are on display, Falck’s (the fire and rescue services in Denmark) fire engines and rescue vehicles, the dolls and doll’s houses in the doll museum, the giant Kompan playground, the maze where you might lose your way, the Tree Top Walking (suspension walkway in the tree tops) as well as the castle itself, eg displaying the fairytale doll’s house Titania’s Palace. Live like Lords
Steensgaard Manor House - hotel and restaurant situated in Millinge – has its own farm shop where specialities such as meat from own Jersey breeding stock, butter, cheese and yoghurt are available. The dairy production is based on old recipes and traditional craftsmanship. The produce is used in the manor house kitchen, where all bread is baked from home-grown flour. The farm shop is open from Thursday through to Sunday.
Hvedholm Castle in Horne with its towers and spires has a wine cellar which is open to the public. Saturdays, the castle arranges wine tastings with wines from its own vineyards in Rumania and leading wines from the main wine districts in the world.
Both places offer excellent sleeping and dining possibilities.
The Japanese Gardens
Find yourself in the mystical surroundings of the Far East by visiting the Japanese Gardens “
De Japanske Haver” in Vøjstrup in the vicinity of Broby. Throughout the season you can experience traditional Japanese ceremonies on selected days. The garden is laid out on 5.500 square meters and fitted with more than 4000 plants and 700 tons of stones and designed according to unique, ancient Japanese traditions. Sample the Japanese kitchen in the café and buy a souvenir from the shop. The garden is open from 1
st of May.
The Rhododendron Park
At the Brahetrolleborg Castle, outside the village of Korinth, one can enjoy the giant bushes of the rhododendron park in full bloom at the end of May, ie a magnificent display of their fantastic colours. The castle is not open to the public, however, signposted paths in parts of the park can be accessed from the street “Spanget”.
