Faaborg Museum celebrates its 100 years
Faaborg Museum celebrates its 100 years anniversary on the 24th of June 2010, and the anniversary will be marked with a number of various cultural arrangements throughout the year. These include lectures on Funish painters, guided tours, concerts, daytrips into the funish landscape and tours to the Northern parts of Funen.

A major exhibition opens in the Konservesgaard on March 27th, where an attempt has been made to hang the paintings in the original rooms and places as when initially inaugurated by Mads Rasmussen and the Fynbo-Painters in 1910 and during the following five years. Faaborg Town Museum and the Faaborg Town Archives have plenty of material for many a good tale, and thus original items, photographs, furniture etc are on eshibit. The permanent collection can be experinced in the museum building (dating back to 1915), and a special exhibition is held on June 12th 2010 as to further celebrate the anniversary.

Children look at Faaborg Museum
July will set the frame for guided trips for children into the Funish landscape. Based on the exhibition on the formative years of Faaborg Museum, we aim to inspire the children´s appreciation of the arts - and of their own creative talents.

Heritage Museum
This museum is located in an impressive merchant house from the 1700´s. At that time Faaborg was a lively trading town, and sailing ships brought back exotic goods from all over the world. The fine hall with decorations from the late 1700s and the lovely garden provide an exciting look into life 200 years ago.

The Prison Museum
In the former town hall on the square is the old town prison, which is now a museum. A visit to the prison is an experience for the whole family. See what is was like to be cooped up in a small cell and get an impression of the tough methods of punishment used in earlier times.

Kaleko Water Mill
The area around Faaborg has always had many mills. Kaleko Water Mill is one of the oldest functioning watermills in Denmark and has roots in th 1600´s.

The Belfry
Enjoy the fabulous view of the southern Funen archipelago from the old medieval belfry.

Ringe Museum
Ringe Museum, situated in the middle of the town, displays the area’s past in relation to the surrounding world as well as the everyday life of the local population. In Ryslinge, situated to the east of Ringe, you will find the Nazareth church which is worth a visit due to its beautiful woodcarvings and metal work.

Carl Nielsen
The world-famous composer was born on the 9th of June, 1865. In the village of Nr. Lyndelse one can visit the childhood home of the famous composer and get an insight to his childhood background – a home full of music. In Odense, you can visit a museum dedicated to the composer and his wife, Anne Marie Carl Nielsen, a famous sculptor.

The area surrounding Faaborg has always been an inspiration to artists. Many have chosen to settle here in order to practice many different art forms. All year round many different exhibitions can be visited in “Levins hus”, “Bryggergården”, “Konservesgården” as well as at the “Gallery Strandmark” in Faldsled and “Bremers Gallery” in Ringe. Furthermore, selected artists have opened their galleries to the public every last Sunday of the month.
