Faaborg - a Part of The South Funen Archipelago
Maritime adventures and The Archipelago Trail
In the South Funen Archipelago, you will find little islands dotted in the waters as pearls on a string. Just south of Faaborg, these islands, ie Bjørnø, Lyø, Avernakø and Ærø, are all reachable by ferry from Faaborg Harbour.
Sea Kayaking and Setting Sails
The Archipelago map offers exiting kayaking trips and provides you with a lot of opportunities in terms of spending your holidays with paddles in your hands. The map is available free of charge from the Tourist Office in Faaborg and the Tourist Information situated at “Midtfyns Fritidscenter” in Ringe. The guide book, including a chart, “Sea Kayak – Guide to the South Fyn Archipelago” is available from the Tourist Office.
Thursdays and Fridays, from June 27th to August 12th, the beautiful old wooden ship Meta embarks from Faaborg on an island cruise to the island Avernakø during the mornings and a nostalgia sunset trip in the evenings.
Angling
Many years of vigilant work, persistence and reestablishment of the streams on Funen have turned the area into an angler’s haven. The sea trout guide “117 fine Funen fishing spots” provides invaluable information on the best fishing places on Funen.
